NBA PrizePicks Predictions Today

Austin Reaves More/Less Than 7.5 Rebounds + Assists

The Lakers managed to stave off elimination with a win on Saturday, but they’ll have to win each of the next 3 games in order to pull off one of the biggest playoff upsets we’ve seen in quite some time. Despite trailing 3-1 in the series, the Lakers hve been quite competitive. They’ve led fairly deep into each of the 4 games to this point, and tonight’s clash in Denver features a 7-point spread in favor of the home team.

Reaves is one of the few players Darvin Ham really trusts. He’s logged at least 37 minutes in 2 of the 4 games, though he only played 30 minutes in Game 4. Reaves still contributed 21 points, 6 assists, and 1 rebound in that game, but he lost a bit of playing time in favor of Gabe Vincent and Taurean Prince.

The minutes are a bit uncertain if Ham is going to ride the hot hand, but we do have Reaves tentatively projected for 38 in Game 5. His production has declined a bit in this series after he averaged 5.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds during the regular season, but I expect a productive night if the Lakers manage to keep things competitive.

Anthony Davis More/Less Than 25.5 Points

While the Lakers are unlikely to advance to the next round at this point, you can’t blame AD for their shortcomings. While he does seem to do most of his offensive damage in the first halves of games, the overall numbers are still eye-popping. Through 4 games, AD has averaged 30.5 points and 15.8 rebounds per game. That includes his monstrous 25-point, 23-rebound, 6-assist effort in LA’s victory on Saturday.

Nikola Jokic isn’t even a poor defender. Davis has just been on a tear, and his aforementioned 25-point game in Game 4 was the first time in the series he failed to score at least 30 points. Davis has also logged at least 39 minutes in each game, and he’s topped 40 minutes three times. He’s putting up monster scoring totals in the series despite ranking 2nd in usage (27.8%) behind LeBron James (30%).

25.5 points just sounds like a low expectation considering how dominant AD has been to this point. He may be due for a clunker, but I’ll keep riding the wave.

Josh Giddey More/Less Than 10.5 Rebounds + Assists

Giddey was a core piece of the Oklahoma City rebuild entering the season, but you can now argue he may be the Thunder’s 4th-most-important young player. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is going to be a perennial MVP candidate, while Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams appear primed to develop into All-Stars in the coming years.

Giddey averaged just 25.2 minutes per game during the regular season, which was easily his lowest average across his 3 years in the league. Mark Daigneault runs a deep rotation, but Giddey’s minutes have been on the rise as their series against New Orleans has progressed. After getting just 20 minutes in Game 1, Giddey’s played 26 and 31 minutes in the last 2 games, respectively.

There’s volatility here, but we’re projecting 25 minutes for Giddey in Game 4. The 21-year-old is still active while he’s out there, as he ranked among the team leaders in both rebound and assist rate during the regular season. If Giddey gets anywhere near 30 minutes again tonight, he should stuff the stat sheet.
